Aging America, Free CE Credit Program – NH

Aging America

This year’s Hospice Foundation of America program is Aging America: Coping with Loss, Dying, and Death in Later Life. This program will consist of a two-hour educational video followed by a 30-minute panel discussion. Aging America is the Hospice Foundation of America’s 2019 Living with Grief® program. America is aging at a rapid rate with 10,000 people in the U.S. turning 65 every day. By 2040, Medicare expects to include 80 million enrollees. Advanced age brings a range of losses from a spouse or partner to independence and identity. Along with experiencing multiple losses, older people are more likely to suffer from multiple chronic conditions requiring complex medical care.

How can health professionals, counselors, nurses, social workers, clergy, and other professionals working with older adults support the growing number of aging Americans through these losses? Aging America panelists discuss these issues and look at innovative programs and new approaches to support bereaved older adults as they explore:

• Grief experiences and support needs specific to older adults

• Programs designed to end the “conveyor belt” of runaway care in the last months of life

• Ethical issues that may arise
