Why We Opened a Seacoast Arrangement Office

For years, if a family in Hampton or Portsmouth wanted to sit down with one of our funeral directors, they had to drive to Manchester or Boscawen just to talk through funeral planning. Forty minutes each way, sometimes more with traffic on 101. That’s a real ask for someone who’s grieving, or even someone simply trying to get their own affairs in order on a Tuesday afternoon.

That changed last December, when we opened a small business office on Lafayette Road in Hampton. It’s not a funeral home. There’s no chapel, and no services are held there. It’s a place where you can sit down with one of our licensed funeral directors, talk through your options, and get help making decisions that fit your needs. 

We call it an arrangement office because that’s exactly what it is: a place for funeral planning in Hampton, NH, where our knowledgeable staff will talk through your options and the planning process. It’s a model many families haven’t encountered before, but it reflects the way funeral services have evolved. Today, many families are choosing options that don’t require a traditional funeral home setting. Cremation, graveside services, and gatherings at a family church or favorite restaurant all still require thoughtful planning, legal paperwork and guidance. The actual service, if there is one, still happens wherever it makes sense: a church, a cemetery, one of our full-service locations, or another location that matters to the family.

It’s been several months since we opened the office, and the response from the Seacoast community has reinforced what we hoped when we opened. For residents who have arrangements on file with us or whose family members we’ve cared for, the office provides a more convenient way to connect with us, ask questions, understand their options, and make plans with the guidance of our funeral directors. And for families meeting us for the first time, they find what has always stood behind our reputation: professional staff, four generations of family ownership, our own crematories, and six locations working together.

For more than a hundred years, Phaneuf has been part of the Seacoast community. The Hampton arrangement office is another way we’re making that experience more accessible for the people we serve.
