Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, one of the oldest family-run funeral homes in New England, has received a Great Place to Work certification for 2021, based on feedback from employees. Phaneuf’s team ranks the funeral home 15% higher than average companies are rated by their employees, according to a U.S. National Employee Engagement Study.
“We foster an inclusive family environment for all of our team members,” said Arthur “Buddy” Phaneuf, President and CEO, Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium. “New England families depend on us to be there for them at the worst possible time, so it only makes sense to have a family atmosphere in our funeral homes. We have a remarkable group of people here who make me proud every day.”
Feedback from an employee survey given by Great Places to Work includes:
- 98% said “Our customers would rate the service we deliver as ‘excellent.’
- 90% said “People here are given a lot of responsibility.”
- 90% said “I am given the resources and equipment to do my job.”
“Through the employee feedback, I also see some room for improving the way we work together. My team knows their suggestions are always welcome and they’ve seen those suggestions change the way we operate our business,” Buddy Phaneuf added.
More than half of Phaneuf’s employees have been part of the company for six years or more, and 25% have been part of the company for 11 years or more. Phaneuf also supports the future generation of funeral directors via scholarships from the Phaneuf Family Foundation.
